Antipsychotics up mortality in Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s patients prescribed an antipsychotic drug have a substantially higher mortality risk compared with those not using the drugs, a major study has found.

Analysis of nearly 8,000 Parkinson’s patients taking antipsychotics and matched Parkinson’s patients not on the medication showed a 2.35-fold increase in the odds of death over 180 days following the prescription.
