Anxiety disorder linked to cancer deaths

Men diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder are more than twice as likely to die from cancer compared with their more relaxed counterparts, a large UK study has found.

However, the Cambridge University researchers did not find the same correlation in women.

Their study looked at a population sample of 16,000 people over the age of 40, of whom 340 had been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder in the period 1996-2000.
