ARA says no to medical cannabis

The Australian Rheumatology Association says it will not recommend medical cannabis as a treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain except in the context of a clinical trial.

In a new position statement, the ARA says evidence from high-quality randomised controlled trials is needed before medical cannabis can be integrated into clinical practice.

It also says any clinical evidence for efficacy must be weighed against potential harms seen in trials
