Artificial sweeteners in the firing line

More than $800,000 in NHMRC funding is being invested in a three-year study examining the link between consumption of artificial sweeteners and type 2 diabetes.  

Dr Richard Young from the University of Adelaide says his study will look into whether the gut wall system’s ability to process blood glucose is affected by large amounts of artificial sweeteners consumed by healthy people.
