Aussie doctors explain difficult CDI cases

A group of Melbourne doctors have published a series of case studies showing a successful response to six challenging cases of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI)

Their article in the ANZ Journal of Surgery presents data from The Alfred Hospital that highlights the increased incidence, the increased severity and broader clinical presentations of CDI.

It notes an increase in C. difficile toxin (CDT)-positive cases and the arrival in Australia of the hypervirulent strain of CDT
