Aussie mat comparable with PSG for OSA diagnosis
An Australian-designed mat-based device is just as accurate as the gold-standard test of polysomnography (PSG) for diagnosing sleep disordered breathing, according to a validation study led by its inventor.
The Sonomat, which was invented by Professor Colin Sullivan, is placed on a mattress and monitors patients' movements and other data without them being wired up external sensors.
In the study, 62 subjects were assessed using simultaneous PSG and Sonomat recordings.
