Aussie study sheds light on epilepsy deaths

A genetic study of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) suggests it is multifactorial, with cardiac dysrhythmia playing a role in some patients and an epilepsy gene in others.

The study, presented this month at the American Epilepsy Society Annual Meeting, compared the exomes of 62 people who had died of SUDEP with nearly 3000 from normal controls.

Looking for genes that were more prevalent in the SUDEP
