Banned US antibiotic still used by vets in Australia
Earlier this month the FDA issued an order prohibiting certain uses of cephalosporins in cattle, swine, chickens and turkeys effective 5 April, 2012. The restrictions aim to preserve the effectiveness of these drugs in treating human diseases and to reduce the risk of cephalosporin resistance in certain bacterial pathogens.
