Bariatric surgery a winner for RA patients

Bariatric surgery slashes medication use in rheumatoid arthritis and leads to significant improvements in serum inflammatory markers and disease activity, US researchers have found.

Their study of 53 patients who underwent bariatric surgery shows one year after the intervention, just 6% of patients had moderate to high RA disease activity compared with 57% at baseline.
