Barriers prevent use of absolute CV risk guides

Interviews by Sydney School of Public Health researchers with 25 NSW GPs revealed five strategies that defined the extent to which absolute risk (AR) assessment was used in practice.

“A focus on increasing AR assessment overall may not reflect the complexities of primary care — GPs may have good reasons for not following guidelines, including patient preferences,” the authors said.
