Belief in stress linked to MI

International -researchers examined data from more than 7000 civil servants from the UK’s Whitehall II study who were followed for up to 18 years from 1991. During that time, there were 352 coronary deaths and non-fatal myocardial infarctions.

Those who reported at the beginning of the study that their health was affected “a lot or extremely” by stress had more than double the risk of coronary death or non-fatal myocardial infarction, compared with those who reported no effect of stress on their health.
