Beyond the Mediterranean diet – oil protects brain

Among more than 500 individuals at high vascular risk, Spanish researchers showed that after 6.5 years, those consuming the boosted Mediterranean diet performed better on a Mini-Mental State Exam and a clock drawing test than the control group who received advice on a low fat diet.

It follows another study suggesting increased consumption of olive oil and walnuts were independently related to better cognition, the researchers said.
