Boomers shun doctors after OA diagnosis

Older women see specialists and GPs much less frequently after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis, a South Australian study has found.

Medicare records for a sample of 760 women with OA show that while their visits to doctors dropped off after OA onset, the women significantly increased their use of allied health services such as physiotherapists or chiropractors.
