Breastfeeding benefits include halving the risk of SIDS

The organisation has revised its guidelines for reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome to add a new recommendation, “breastfeed baby if you can”.

Safe sleeping expert and author of the guideline review, Adjunct Professor Jeanine Young, said studies over the past 15 years had consistently found breastfeeding reduced the risk of SIDS.
