Brown pigmentation since birth
Since then he has developed numerous pigmented lesions within the confines of the background pigmentation.
This is known as a speckled lentiginous naevus or naevus spilus.
The darker pigmented areas are either naevi or lentigos. The darkest one in the groin crease was an ink spot lentigo.
The risk of melanoma developing in one of these lesions is very small but it has been reported. Nonetheless they should be photographed, observed and reviewed if any individual pigmented area changes.
