Call for improved GDM screening

Public health experts are calling for improved screening of Indigenous women with gestational diabetes as research shows most are not being tested for postpartum type 2 diabetes.

The study of women with gestational diabetes in Far North Queensland shows 8% of Indigenous and 17% of non-Indigenous women undergo oral glucose tolerance testing within the recommended two-month postpartum period.
