Call to remove Fluvax from GPs’ fridges

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) has this year received 91 notifications of Fluvax being administered to children under five.

However, 69 of these were found to be data errors, where the doctor or immunisation provider marked the wrong box on the immunisation notification form. Eleven cases are still being followed up.

No adverse events have been recorded this year. In 2012, when Fluvax packaging did not contain new warnings, four children did experience reactions –
