Call to screen for anaemia in depression and vice versa

Patients with depression should be screened for anaemia and vice versa, French researchers say.

Their study of over 44,000 people shows those who are depressed are much more likely to have low haemoglobin levels compared to the general population.

The finding held even even after adjusting for socioeconomic and health-related variables, as well as menorrhagia and menopausal status in women.
