CAM use high in menopausal women

Three quarters of Australian women use self-prescribed complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and vitamins to treat their symptoms of menopause, according to a large study.

And 40% have consulted a CAM practitioner, according to the findings.   

Massage therapists were the most commonly consulted practioner, with one in four women reporting they had visited one to treat symptoms, followed by chiropractors (19%), naturopaths (9%) and  acupuncturists (6%),
