Cardiac CT best to rule out ACS in ER

Cardiac CT is a cheap and effective way to rule out acute coronary syndrome in patients presenting to emergency departments with chest pain but with normal ECG and negative troponin, a cardiologist has told CSANZ 2015.

Dr Christian Hamilton-Craig from Brisbane’s Prince Charles Hospital and the University of Queensland says four large randomised trials, one of which his own team conducted out in Australia, shows the approach is accurate, feasible and safe.
