Cat control a neglected public health issue: experts

The experts note there’s an estimated 60 million feral cats and 81 million pet cats in the US and they deposit about 1.2 million metric tonnes of faeces in the environment annually.

Aside from the danger to pregnant women and the immunocompromised, T. gondii has been linked to schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, rheumatoid arthritis, brain cancer and children’s learning difficulties, the pair noted in a review.
