The results from a questionnaire completed by 136 acne patients at a private cosmetic clinic in Korea showed poor knowledge, researchers said.

None of the patients identified acne correctly as an inflammatory process of the follicles, with 7.4% of patients believing it was genetic and therefore incurable and 42% washing their face excessively.
“This study showed that the thought and behaviour patterns of patients for the improvement of acne were quite different from what we doctors expected,” the authors wrote.
