Check out chest pain promptly
Rapid evaluation is needed, with early transport to hospital when infarction is suspected.
Outside of hospital, Therapeutic Guidelines recommends that patients chew, or dissolve, then swallow a 300mg tablet of aspirin. Patients with hypoxaemia can be given oxygen.
If available, glyceryl trinitrate can be given sublingually to patients with continuing chest pain. If severe chest pain persists, morphine is recommended.
The hospital should be informed of any treatment given before admission.
