Children benefit from dietary counselling

Dietary counselling initiated during infancy resulted in improved insulin sensitivity at 20 years of age, according to findings from the Special Turku Coronary Risk Factor Intervention Project (STRIP).

Young adults in the intervention group had a homeostasis model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) 7.5% lower than controls.

The effect was similar in boys and girls.
