Cinnamon benefit in diabetes
Answer: Cinnamon may increase sensitivity to insulin and have an effect on insulin secretion. While glucose metabolism has been improved in animal studies, clinical trials have reported conflicting results.
A meta-analysis was conducted on 10 RCTs of oral cinnamon supplements involving 543 patients with type 2 diabetes and lasting 4–18 weeks.
Different forms of cinnamon were used, taken at different times in relation to meals. In some trials the patients were already taking drugs for diabetes.
