City/country gap narrowing in cancer survival

The survival gap may be narrowing for city and country patients with advanced cancer, WA researchers report.

Data from 1,600 patients from the Royal Perth Hospital and various state regional cancer centres shows only a small difference in median overall survival between metropolitan and rural cases (8.3 vs 7.6 months). The researchers from the University of Western Australia say this difference is not statistically significant.
