Clotting rare among spine surgery kids: study

Pre-emptive anti-clotting treatment is largely unnecessary for children undergoing spine surgery, according to a 10-year review of 22,000 US cases.

It shows that thromboembolic (VTE) complications and pulmonary embolism (PE) are so rare that most need nothing more than vigilant monitoring after surgery.
However, the benefit of precautionary measures outweighs the harm for
