Coeliac drug therapy a step closer

An experimental drug is effective in reducing GI symptoms in coeliac disease, according to a late-breaking abstract presented at Digestive Diseases Week.

The US trial randomised over 340 people with coeliac disease and persistent symptoms despite a gluten-free diet to either placebo or three different doses of the oral peptide larazotide acetate.
