Colonoscopy access still a battle for bowel program
Work is underway in Queensland to reduce the current average 36 day wait for a colonoscopy to 30 days, according to the program’s Queensland assistant nursing director, Beth Wardle.
Feedback from program participants showed specific concern with waiting times, she said.
However a survey of 563 patients found the vast majority (91%) were satisfied or very satisfied with the program and 78% of patients said they were satisfied with time to colonoscopy.
Ms Wardle said moves to reduce wait times were underway. This was an important issue as other research showed patients experienced a high rate of anxiety
