Cortical lesions linked to disability in MS

Cortical lesions in people with MS correlate with levels of impaired cognition and disability but high-field MRI is needed to image them, a study shows.

Between zero and 99 lesions were found in 36 patients with MS, imaged using a 7 Tesla MRI machine, with a median of 16 lesions per patient.

But almost no cortical lesions were seen in 15 normal healthy controls, which shows the lesions seen in the patients
