Cough, cold meds not for kids


Cough and cold medicines should not be given to children under six as the potential risks outweigh the limited benefits. 1-3 

A TGA review of use in two- to 12-year-olds concluded there was a lack of evidence of efficacy, but there were potential risks, which were greatest in children under six. 3 

For instance, some young children may experience CNS stimulation rather than sedation following cough and cold medicines which contain
