CPM after knee arthroplasty not justified: Cochrane

The beneficial effects of continuous passive motion (CPM) after arthritis-related knee arthroplasty are too small to justify its use or cost, an Australian-authored Cochrane report has concluded.

Data from 24 randomised trials with over 1400 participants showed an improvement in active knee flexion range of motion (ROM) of only two percent after CPM, compared with controls.
