Crossed wires led to IBD death

Doctors treating a Perth man with suspected Crohn’s disease were not told of an abnormal blood test that would have precluded use of the drug that killed him, a coronial inquest has heard.

Jared Olsen, 41, was admitted to the Fiona Stanley Hospital in February 2015 with extreme stomach pains. Crohn’s disease was suspected and the patient was kept in hospital for a week and prescribed mercaptopurine.
