Crystal meth use rising among young rural men

USE of methamphetamine, including ice, is significantly higher among rural adults younger than 30 compared with city dwellers.

The first Australian study to examine patterns of meth use by rural location also found a concerning growth in use of crystal meth among rural residents, particularly men, between 2007 and 2013 (up from 1.9% to 2.6%).

The study drew on data from three annual drug strategy household surveys and from treatment services.
