CVD deaths underestimated in diabetes

A reduction in deaths from heart disease in people with diabetes may not be all it seems, according to new Australian research.

The study of well over a million Australian diabetes patients found that for type 1, death rates from cardiovascular disease were around four times higher than in the general population in 1997, but by 2010 had dropped to 3 and 3.4 times higher in men and women, respectively.
