Cycling cardiologists prove a point

Cycling is often recommended to prevent heart disease, but a group of pedalling cardiologists from the home of the bicycle decided to find out how safe it is when taken to extremes.

It all started in 2009 when the 20 Dutch specialists cycled all the way from Maastricht to Barcelona to attend the meeting of the European Society of Cardiology, an eight-day trip covering 1,580km.
