Daily pomegranate juice a benefit to bp?

POMEGRANATE juice may help to reduce blood pressure, an industry-funded study has shown.

Research presented at the 2011 Society for Endocrinology conference in Birmingham, UK, shows that drinking 500ml of pomegranate juice daily for a week could reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

The ratio of cortisol to cortisone in the urine also dropped in the 10 test subjects who drank the juice, compared with 10 who had a placebo.

“Our study shows that pomegranate juice may have the potential to lower blood pressure levels both at rest and following exercise,” said Dr Emad Al-Dujaili, from Queen Margaret University, Scotland.

The study was funded by RJA Foods’ Pomegreat.
