Daytime sleepiness tied to depression: study
The results are from an analysis of the Geelong Osteoporosis Study, where 13% of the 944 women surveyed were found to have EDS, as measured by the Epworth Sleepiness Scale.
EDS was associated with twice the rate of both current depression and a lifetime history of depression, but not with anxiety disorder.
The association was independent of age, alcohol consumption, medication use, BMI, physical activity, smoking or socioeconomic status.
