Depression the biggest risk factor for CHD in women

WOMEN with depression have more than double the odds of experiencing incident coronary heart disease (CHD), an Australian study shows.

Although a position paper by the American Heart Association says there’s insufficient evidence to list depression as a risk factor for incident CHD, the authors of the new study say they’ve shown the association is independent and stronger than other typical risk factors.
