Diabetes amputation rate higher than expected

One in three diabetes patients attending high-risk foot clinics are likely to lose a limb, according to a study of 129 Queensland patients.

This is a higher rate of amputation than the researchers expected to find in their review of patients attending a clinic at Townsville Hospital in the three years to December 2013.
