Diabetes diagnosis and MI separated by 18 years

The risk of MI in patients with type 2 diabetes is two-to-three times higher than the general population, but researchers at the Royal Melbourne Hospital believe that stating the expected time course to sustaining a MI could provide a more powerful message to patients than explaining the relative risk.
