Diabetes linked to head and neck cancer

Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of head and neck cancer, according to a study.

The Taiwanese study of 89,000 people shows the incidence of head and neck cancer (HNC) is 1.5 times higher in patients diagnosed with diabetes compared with a control group without diabetes.  

HNC in the oral cavity had the highest incidence at 57.1%, followed by 15.3% in the nasopharyx.
