Diabetes research gets funding boost
More than $54 million has been allocated to the treatment and prevention of diabetes from a total pool of $540 million in the latest round of NHMRC grants.
The top diabetes recipients are three type 1 projects which each received $2.5 million. The remainder of the diabetes funding is split between 57 other research projects.
Diabetes collectively won the third biggest portion of the funding, after oncology at $98 million and cardiovascular disease at $82 million.
