Diabetes risk testing to be cheaper, faster

Researchers from the Centre for Diabetes Research at the WA Institute for Medical Research analysed 20,000 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from over 10,000 subjects using a novel machine learning method.

They found just three SNPs could predict all the HLA-DR and HLA-DQ risk types associated with type 1 diabetes with an overall accuracy of 99.3%.
