Diabetic foot crisis hits Top End

Hospital admissions for diabetic foot infections in the Northern Territory have soared to unsustainable levels, say doctors, who call for more funding to deal with the “desperate” situation.

Researchers from the Royal Darwin Hospital say the number of hospital beds occupied by patients with diabetic foot infections has increased fourfold since a previous survey in 2000.
