Diagnosing depression by a blood test?

The blood test measured levels of nine biomarkers associated with factors such as inflammation, the development and maintenance of neurons, and the interaction between brain structures involved with stress response and other key functions.

Those measurements were combined using a specific formula to come up with a ‘major depressive disorder score’.

In this sample, the test demonstrated a sensitivity of 91.7% and a specificity of 81.3%.
