Doctor disciplined over methotrexate poisoning

A West Australian GP who prescribed toxic levels of methotrexate to a patient who later died has been ordered to complete courses in medication safety, proper note-taking and the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr Dian Haryaty Harun was working long hours in the rural town of Esperance, about 700km southeast of Perth, when she was visited by the 66-year-old — an Indonesian national who was visiting family — on 17 April 2009.
