Doctors back new vaccination law
Dr Brian Morton, chair of the AMA’s Council of General Practice, said the enforced documentation would make parents who had forgotten or omitted to vaccinate their children stop and think about the consequences.
He said the proposed law was better than banning any unvaccinated children and supported the proposal to get GPs to counsel parents who were seeking exemptions.
“Otherwise you might have the chiropractor who belongs to the Australian Vaccination Network talking about it,” he said.
"The emphasis is on educating and giving the vaccines rather than just filling in the form."
