Doctors prefer problem-based CME
Problem-based learning has been used to teach medical students for many years. As it is effective for undergraduates, it has also been used for further professional development.
It is uncertain if this educational method improves doctors’ performance. The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Toronto has therefore reviewed randomised trials of problem-based learning.
A literature review found 15 studies suitable for analysis, most involving practising doctors. There was one Australian study but
