An eight-week Pilates program is effective in reducing chronic low back pain and improving disability, Spanish researchers say.

Their small trial randomised 54 patients with low back pain lasting for at least 12 months to either a Pilates program or to receiving a leaflet containing educational information. Both groups were told to continue with their usual medications and exercise routine.
